Direct Drive wheel choice

For anyone wanting to upgrade from a Logitech G29 range to a DD wheel, what would you guys with experience in different wheels recommended as a FFB force for F1 and GT3 cars mainly 5, 9 or 12 Nm of force?
The questions here are:
1 - is 5 Nm generally enough so that you get decent force feeling (I guess in the range of 2 to 3 Nm as nominal and up to 5 for peaks to avoid clipping)? But is 2-3 Nm enough?
2 - is 9 Nm the sweet spot, which means 5-6 for nominal power and 9 for peaks?
3 - is it worth the moeny and size disadvantage (bigger in size) for a 12 Nm, is 12 too much, I don't want to be wrestling the wheel and having to have to keep up in the gym to be able to survive a full race distance?
So far I think 8 or 9 Nm would be good enough but because I've never tried any of those, I don't want to spend the money just to realize I should've go for the bigger one.
